FAQs
Where can I paddle?
You can paddle one of the largest canoes in Europe along the tidal waters of the River Dart, and also (by special arrangement) the River Yealm and the Salcombe-Kingsbridge Estuary.
What do I need to wear?
Through the seasons the river is ever changing and always beautiful, so we offer trips all year round. Everyone should dress for the day's forecast weather including waterproof trousers and top, and or sun screen. Footwear - Wellingtons, trainers or sandals - depending on season. A big drybag is aboard each canoe for guest-crew to use. For evening trips a small torch is useful.
Do I need to bring food?
You can bring your own picnic, call in at a country pub or riverside café, or let us do the catering. For an extra charge we can offer a barbeque, picnic breakfast or campfire supper. We'll always provide you with hot drinks from the campfire. Just let us know when you book.
How do I book or request further information?
Call Canoe Adventures on 01803 865301 or email us at enquiries@canoeadventures.co.uk. Trips are dependent on the weather and tides. White water canoeing on the River Dart above Totnes is possible from October to January inclusive.
Do you sell canoe equipment?
We keep no stock but are always pleased to discuss and advise on your canoe and equipment needs, and direct you to a tried and trusted supplier. Kayaks and Paddles of Plymouth, Bournemouth, Brighton and Bantree Bay offer exceedingly keen prices and mail order, and supply equipment to Canoe Adventures.
We keep a British Canoe Union Yearbook to hand and can additionally advise on Canoe Clubs both locally and nationally.
