River Dart

The tidal Dart between Totnes and Dartmouth is one of the most beautiful navigable rivers in the country, while its upper reaches offer excellent white water canoeing from October to January inclusive. An aerial tour of the tidal Dart is available on the Dart Harbour Navigation Authority's website. A favourite starting point for Canoe Adventure's trips is the sheltered water of Bow Creek at Tuckenhay, another is Longmarsh Slip in Totnes. Further "ports of call" include Dittisham, Stoke Gabriel and Dartmouth. Many other stopping points are available - accessible only from the water.

Embarkation

Outings go from and return to the slipway by The Maltsters Arms on Bow Creek at Tuckenhay.

Special high water outings from Stoke Gabriel:

Paddle across the river to enjoy lunch, an evening meal or a quayside barbeque at Tuckenhay. Then ride home again on the tide. Outings from Stoke Gabriel to the Sharpham Winery can also be booked, where you can enjoy wine and cheese tasting, a vineyard tour or a meal at the restaurant before returning.

Other Local Waters
